CODE OF CONDUCT

As a Dog Watch member you have an opportunity to play a part in keeping your community safe and an enjoyable place to live. As a member of Dog Watch you agree to:

  • Keep your dog under control, ideally within five meters of you. If necessary keep your dog on a lead especially near roads, other dogs that are on leads and other people.

• Control your dog so that it doesn't run towards or jump up at other people or dogs.

• Many people are scared when unfamiliar dogs run towards them!

• Encourage your children to be responsible dog owners and not to pat dogs they don't know.

• Always be polite, courteous and considerate to other people. Never use offensive or threatening language.

• Control your dog and prevent it from chasing wildlife or ducks, geese, squirrels rabbits, deer, sheep and cattle.

• Always tidy up after your dog. Put your dog bags in a waste bin. If there are no dog bins take your waste home. Please carry spare bags and offer them to dog walkers who may have forgotten theirs.

• Dispose of litter responsibly. Please do not drop litter or cigarette butts.

Please remember that you are an ambassador for the Dog Watch scheme and your behaviour should reflect this.
